RamBox Topper Features

The Lift System is comprised of 4 custom, high force actuators, aircraft quality aluminum topper adaptor plates, billet mounting blocks to the bed rail, electrical junction box with Up/Down switch, a wiring harness and varied mounting hardware.

We would need to know the following at the very least:

1. Year of Truck
2. Model of Truck
3. Length of Bed
4. Are there bedrail mounts? These would be located at the top of the bed and typically run the length of the bed as well.
5. Are the rails Tonneau rails or standard rails?

NO, The Topper itself is generally your choice and sourced locally. We've used ARE, Snugtop and LEER. Once you have researched and decided on a desired manufacturer and style of Topper unit you would like to use, please let us know.

A topper for any given "Standard" RAM truck is ordered and then must be modified to remove the left and right lip that centers into the truck bed. We provide custom Aircraft Quality aluminum adaptor plates  incorporating right angle bends to extend the topper mount over the RAMBOXES and into the bed of the truck, thereby maintaining lateral (side to side) support. Also included are billet aluminum mounts to the stock bedrails.

We suggest you source the topper locally and either have the dealer modify it for you or modify it yourself. This will save the extremely expensive double shipping expenses from the manufacturer to us and then us to you.

When ordering a Topper (whether through us or your local provider/installer) the information below will be used in ordering a topper specific to your requirements. In this regard, if the vehicle has a standard factory paint, the topper company pre-paints the Toppers in most cases. If they don’t support a specific color, a pre-primed ready to paint version can be provided. In our specific case we have a Diamond Black which was supported.

1. There are all kinds of beds, most incorporate factory supplied rail mounts located towards the top of the truck bed. If a rail is not present, they would be available through your local RAM dealer as well.
2. A picture of the bed lip/rail area is most helpful as there needs to be some sort of mounting area. We can help with this if desired... If there is none we, or the customer would need to provide. The bottom end of the actuator will mount to a Billet Aluminum block we provide. Its important there is a rigid mount/rail. The 2019 forward are assumed but we can provide mounts for earlier versions as well.
3. We are also working with various Topper dealers now who can do the work required as well. You would be able to order the topper itself locally if desired. To date, the suppliers are happy to modify and mount inclusive of their labor.
4. The Topper Dealer will likely ask for your VIN to assure the exact topper is provided for the truck... There have been mid-year changes throughout the production cycles.
5. Vehicle Paint Code – Again, If we are to provide the topper itself.

The current lead time ranges from 4-6 weeks after order. We are working to reduce this timeline. The other side of this is, the Topper itself will usually take 4-8 weeks once ordered from your dealer so, deliveries should line up close to each other.

Short answer... don't do that ;o)

We are working on an AUX DC Input Option. This would consist of a gel-cell type battery and connector to the electrical junction box. If interested, please let us know.

NO, however slow movement (less than 5mph) to reposition truck on level ground may be ok. It is at the owner's risk in any event.

We have a BedRug In our RAM. Due to the width of the RAMBOX Top itself, and the fact we provide a 1/8" thick x 4" wide x bed length adhesive backed foam rubber we have not had any issue. The only place otherwise that may "leak" could potentially be the selected topper rear window itself.

The standard lift kit supports the ability to lift the topper and has an ambilocal cord attached via a standard circular connector mounted high in the bed. This permits easy removal of the topper if needed and frequently all the customer desires.

If the user desires to connect a 3rd brake light and extra Auxiliary 12VDC line to the topper, integrated into the lift function, there is an OPTION available in our store which requires our higher density connector, a heavier cord and the integration of an on-off switch for the AUX function.
